Kosovo is preparing to certify its first group of Dual VET students in the fields of cooking, hairdressing, bricklaying and hospitality later this month. However, the necessary tools for assessing and certifying the 95 students are still under development. To address this gap, key representatives from the sector visited Hamburg, Germany, to learn from best practices in student examination, evaluation, and certification.

Helping develop essential documents

The study visit was led by the Skills for sustainable jobs project, in close cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation (MESTI), the Fits for Jobs project implemented by GIZ and the Bibeku Training Centre. Participants included representatives from MESTI, Kosovo Chamber of Commerce, VET institutions, and the private sector.

The visit aimed at helping participants develop essential documents, including a manual for examination, and guides for creating practical examination questions and procedures for VET school directors, teachers and private sector. These resources will ensure that Kosovo’s VET institutions can successfully assess and certify students within the Dual VET system.

By investing in capacity development, this initiative helps ensure Kosovo’s young professionals are better prepared for the job market and are aligned with international standards.
